Save the Date: Issue I of the Under Review

Hey readers,

Sup. It’s me, Terry. And I’m writing this post in celebration. Celebration that this week, these next few days, will be the final week in all of human history without a published issue of the Under Review in existence. Can you feel it? I sure can.

It’s hard to know what to expect from an undertaking like this. I expected to read a bunch of good submissions with a wide range of interpretations of our ‘sport slant.’ My expectations, in that regard, were wildly exceeded. We received a bunch of really, really great pieces of writing. All very different from each other, but all in conversation with one another. It’s amazing how magical writing is in that way.

Our managing editor, Meghan Maloney-Vinz, and I had a ton of very tough decisions to make for our pilot issue. We want to thank each and every person who took the time, effort, and love to submit. I think I was ready for a lot of things when we decided to start this, but one thing I wasn’t ready for was the overwhelming sense of gratitude and joy at how many people wanted to be apart of this. I will always be grateful for that.

That’s enough from me for now. We’ll be back on Friday with tUR Issue I.

See ya then. Also, save the dates!

P.S. Since we’re all about the publishing and promotion of great writing, read this piece I absolutely love by Caity Weaver while you wait for tUR I. “My Magical Quest to Destroy Tom Brady and Win a Philadelphia Eagles Mini-Fridge at Super Bowl LII” originally published by GQ and included in this year’s edition of ‘Best American Sports Writing.’
